Results from the West Side Invite “Pedal to the Metal” with Throne of Bone

May 27th, 2009 by Ryan

I think it’s safe to say that all that were in the room for the Emerald Sprints during the Westside Invite saw something that they haven’t before. Groundbreaking. Earthshaking. Recordbreaking. Pedal to the Metal. Throne of Bone killed it as usually with their songs of Wizards, Dragons, Bicycles, and the like. The eight folks that competed in the men’s finals killed it on a different level. Bringing in multiple times under 18 seconds, all present were impressed. Uncle Pavel once again put the hammer down, sealing the deal and going home with some prizes from the table.

And the brackets:

RaeAnne went against Mackenzie, and won with a 20.37 to Mackenzie’s 21.62

A big thanks goes out to Throne of Bone for working with us on this, to all the organizers of the Westside Invite, to everybody that raced, and those that just came to hang out and drink beer, making this one of the best times I’ve had in Seattle to date.  The way the community came together was really impressive.  I look forward to many more events that are diverse in attendance and friendly in demeanor.  I’ll see you on the road.

As for Emerald Sprints:  Stay tuned for more info on where we’ll be next.

Pedal to the Metal!

May 24th, 2009 by greghxc

Seattle is hosting the Westside Invite for it’s first year out of Portland this weekend, so last night we teamed up with our friends Throne of Bone to form Pedal to the Metal and make things a little special at the afterparty. We’ve often favored a mostly metal playlist when we do events, but this definitely brought it to the next level. I found this video on a friend’s Flickr. We’ll have more photos up soon.

Pavel kept his title as our fastest sprinter with a time in the low 17’s, although he had some tough competition this time. Ryan will post the full results soon.

Thanks to the Westside for having us, and Throne of Bone for making it come together perfectly. From what I hear they’ve been spending time in the studio recently, so be sure to look out for a recording from them soon. Time to sleep for a minute, then back to the awards for the WSI! What a weekend.

Come see us at the West Side!
